This bug is repeatable and happens with any LO Writer document on my system (Dell Precision 7720 laptop running under Ubuntu Unity 24.04. Language under Tools Option is set to English USA. All Writing Aids are selected. If my memory is correct, this problem did not occur with Ubuntu Unity 23.10. John
Tested on Ubuntu 22.04 + GNOME 42.9 with: Version: 24.2.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 433d9c2ded56988e8a90e6b2e771ee4e6a5ab2ba CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.5; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded 0. All options ticked in Tools > Options > Languages and Locales > Writing aids 1. Write some text with mistakes in new Writer document 2. Set all text to en-US with Tools > Language > For all text > English (USA) 3. Run spellcheck with Tools > Spelling Result: can't reproduce. Dialog works, words can be corrected, Text Language field shows "English (USA)". Do you have a suitable dictionary listed in Tools > Extensions? Can you test if the crash occurs with Help > Restart in Safe Mode > Continue in Safe Mode? Or with a new profile (after backing up your original profile directory)?
